Dr Anthony Fauci Was Not Present At The Discussion Of Task Force As He Was In A Surgery

Dr Antony Fauci said he was undergoing surgery and was not there in the august 20 task force meeting  for the discussion on updated U.S  Centres for disease control and prevention guidelines that suggest that asymptomatic people does want to get tested for corona even if they are in close contact with the infected person.

Fauci’s statement

He said that he was under anaesthesia in the operating room and was not part of any discussion or deliberation regarding the new testing recommendations, he told at a meeting with CNN chief medical correspondent Dr Sanjay Gupta.  Brett Giroir said to reporters on Wednesday that all documents have been signed off before it could even reach task force level Giroir also said earlier that the new guidelines were the result of political pressure.

CDC was pressured 'from the top down' to change coronavirus testing guidance, official says

The director of CDC Robert Redfield suggested that they could relax the guidelines, as it would be unnecessary to test healthy individuals who are not experiencing any symptoms of the coronavirus. The decision has to lead to CDC publishing new guidelines on their website on Wednesday, which caught media attention on Tuesday and faced a lot of criticisms from the Public health community.

There have been a lot of opposition for the new guidelines both from the public as well as higher officials The director of  CDC Robert Redfield  said  ” these updated guidelines, coordinated in conjunction with the coronavirus task force, received appropriate attention, consultation and input from the task force experts.”
